Description:   The University of California, Merced is a dynamic new university campus in Merced, California, which opened in September 2005 as the tenth campus of the University of California and the first American research university in the 21st century. The Molecular Cell Biology Unit of the School of Natural Sciences at the University of California, Merced invites applications from exceptional scholars and teachers for a Lecturer with Potential Security of Employment (LPSOE) in Molecular Cell Biology. The LPSOE position closely parallels that of an Assistant Professor on track for tenure including membership in the Academic Senate, but with an emphasis on undergraduate education.

Qualifications:   Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Biology or a related field and significant teaching experience in university-level Biology courses.

Evaluation criteria to be used by search committee: (1) Demonstrated devotion and aptitude for the broader aspects of undergraduate education in Biology. (2) Teaching excellence in the classroom. (3) Leadership potential for developing and enhancing the undergraduate Biology program, including assessment, accreditation, recruitment and retention. (4) Potential to secure external funding to support innovative educational initiatives. (5) History of or interest in pursuing peer-reviewed Biology education research.
 
Salary:   Salary is negotiable based on University of California academic pay scale
