Description:   The University of California, Merced is a dynamic new university campus in Merced, California, which opened in September 2005 as the tenth campus of the University of California and the first American research university in the 21st century. In keeping with the mission of the University to provide teaching, research and public service of the highest quality, UC Merced offers research-centered and student-oriented educational opportunities at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels through three academic schools: Engineering, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences/Humanities/Arts.

The School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts anticipates hiring a Reader for SOC 132: Sociology of Education for the Fall 2013 semester. The Reader will be responsible for grading midterm and final exams, which are a mix of multiple-choice and short-answer questions. The Reader will also be responsible for grading two short written assignments, and a clear key will be provided. The position will require no more than 3-4 hours in a given week, and will total 50 hours for the semester.

Qualifications:   The Reader will be a Sociology major or minor, be a student in good standing at the University, have previously taken SOC 132: Sociology of Education or a related course and received a grade of B or higher.
Salary:   $12.82/hour undergrad; $13.49/hour grad
