Description:  

The University of California, Merced is the newest and tenth campus of the University of California system and the first American research university built in the 21st century. With close to 6,200 students, UC Merced has planned for additional student growth until we reach an enrollment of approximately 25,000 students. With undergraduate, graduate, and PhD programs, plans for a future medical school program, partnerships and community involvement, the UC Merced campus is continually evolving, requiring talented, knowledgeable and dynamic educators, researchers, management and staff.

The Senior Food Service Worker duties will include one or both of the following: Cashiering and simple culinary duties, such as preparing food at a short order station, making salad dressings and sauces, cleaning and preparing produce, assembling sandwiches serving up to 1000 meals per shift. Duties also include ensuring that high standards of food quality, service, sanitation, and safety are maintained at all times. The Senior Food Service Worker assists/trains food service worker and/or students with entry level cooking duties. This position serves as plataform Lead.

 
Qualifications:   • Accuracy in handling money; knowledge of handling checks and credit cards.

• Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people.

• Two years culinary experience in a high volume culinary environment.

• Ability to perform basic mathematical equations.

• Ability to communicate, read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English.

• Legible handwriting.

• Prior cashiering experience in retail setting

• Ability to enter information into data terminals

• This position requires background and fingerprint check.

• Partial Year/Career - 9 to 10-month work schedule.

• Flexibility in work hours which include weekend and nights.

• May be reassigned during the summer conference season or throughout the year when special events occur of the schedule changes.
