The University of California, Merced is the newest and tenth campus of the University of California system and the first American research university built in the 21st century. Under the general supervision of the Director of Administrative Operations, the incumbent will provide primary administrative support for the Academic Support Group within the School of Engineering. The incumbent will assist in the support and coordination of Academic Personnel support for faculty merit/promotion cases, Academic Senate and non-senate recruitment and employment documentation. The incumbent will also assist in the coordination of academic records, academic employee appointments, employment visa cases and payroll matters.

Qualifications:   • Bachelor degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in ord er to effectively interact with a diverse group of individuals within the campus and community.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

• Skill to read, understand, interpret and apply policies, practices and procedures in the areas of organization and other business related activities (UC or other college/university level experience preferred).

• Demonstrated knowledge of Windows based computer programs such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint preferred. Knowledge of academic principles and practices.

• Demonstrated ability to work successfully with faculty, staff and students desired.
