Description:  

The University of California, Merced is the newest and tenth campus of the University of California system and the first American research university built in the 21st century. With close to 6,200 students, UC Merced has planned for additional student growth until we reach an enrollment of approximately 25,000 students. The purpose of the SIS Technical Lead for the Student Information Systems position is to serve as a technical expert/lead for Information Technology working in the Student Information Systems group with responsibility for the Ellucian Banner system. This role exhibits full technical mastery of the Banner system internals and operating system, software and hardware interrelationships, responsibility for system integrity, recoverability, and controls. This is an advanced technical level for a complex ERP environment which is mission critical to the campus operations. The technical lead will apply advanced knowledge in all phases of analysis, design, development, testing, and maintenance for Banner student application as well as all interfaces and touch-points. This position will also contribute in technical strategy planning.

 
Qualifications:   • Bachelors or higher degree in related area and/or extensive technical experience.

• Requires advanced knowledge of applications programming function. Must have expert level knowledge working with Oracle RDBMS, PL*SQL, Java, and knowledge of other programming languages such as Cobol, C, XML, XSLT, Oracle Forms, Groovy and Grails, and ColdFusion . Must have working knowledge of UNIX (Solaris, Linux, or other), LDAP and CAS.

• Lead peers in pioneering technical solutions. Demonstrated in-depth understanding of web technology, including a working knowledge of appropriate languages (Java web services, servlets, CSS, Javascript, jsp), and web software packages such as Oracle Web Application Server, Weblogic, Cold Fusion, and relevant development tools.

• Requires advanced skills associated with programming design, modification and implementation. Provide technical leadership for software development projects and application upgrades.

• Has ability to interface with management on a regular basis.

• Must be able to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner.

• Expertise in an ERP environment , preferably, Ellucian's Banner student application. Ability to work in a large, complex application environment comprised of multiple key modules. This role has the mastery level knowledge to provide ongoing support, consultation on installation and major upgrades, monitor various measures with responsibility for performance and reliability.

• Must be self-motivated, work independently or as part of a team, able to learn quickly, meet deadlines and demonstrate problem solving skills.

• Must have strong written and oral communication skills; along with outstanding client support.
