The University of California, Merced is the newest and tenth campus of the University of California system and the first American research university built in the 21st century. The Administrative Analyst uses skills as a seasoned, experienced administrative operations professional to plan, administer and coordinate the daily operations of an organized research unit with limited scope and will report to Unit's Business Officer. The incumbent may supervise student workers. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. The Analyst will assist with the completion of human resource and payroll paperwork, assist in the preparation of budget reports, recharges, analyze and recommend new policy and procedures for the Unit. The Analyst will serve as the primary contact person for scientific investigators, university departmental personnel and outside agencies. The Analyst will work with Sponsored Projects Accounting in the management of grant funded accounts. The position will also be responsible for special events and projects, tracking expenses and the collection of funds, as the projects specifies as well as assisting with high level guest visits. The Analyst will assist the SNRI Directors as requested, to include the Yosemite Field Station, Environmental Analytical Lab, and the Vernal Pool Reserve, also update the SNRI inventory equipment list, schedule special training for the researchers coordinating with EH&S, and update the SNRI website.

Qualifications:   • Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

• Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, account and fund management , personnel management.

• Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.

• Knowledge of a variety of administrative operations activities such as events planning , basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.

• Knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.

• Interpersonal communication skills to include verbal and written, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.

• Strong skills in short term planning, analysis and problem-solving and customer service.
