Description:  

The University of California, Merced is the newest and tenth campus of the University of California system and the first American research university built in the 21st century. With close to 6,200 students, UC Merced has planned for additional student growth until we reach an enrollment of approximately 25,000 students. With undergraduate, graduate, and PhD programs, plans for a future medical school program, partnerships and community involvement, the UC Merced campus is continually evolving, requiring talented, knowledgeable and dynamic educators, researchers, management and staff.

Under the direction of the Assistant Director for Athletics, the incumbent is responsible for all athletic media communications and game day statistical operations. The Sports Information Coordinator is responsible for compiling and publicizing all sports information for UC Merced Athletics programs-including compiling statistics, managing the athletics website, production of game day programs, recruiting guides, writing press releases about athletic events and writing feature stories for the athletic website. The Sports Information Coordinator is an integral part of the UC Merced Athletic Department and will work collaboratively with University Communications, Recreation & Athletics staff and members of the media.

 
Qualifications:   • Bachelors degree in journalism, communications, sports communications, sports management or related field.

• Experience with game day operations as they relate to media relations and Statistics.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.

• Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and website content management systems.

• Preferred experience with DakStats and/or Stat Crew Software programs

• At least one year of experience and AP format writing experience.
