The University of California, Merced is the newest and tenth campus of the University of California system and the first American research university built in the 21st century. With close to 6,700 students, UC Merced has planned for additional student growth until we reach an enrollment of approximately 25,000 students. With undergraduate, graduate, and PhD programs, plans for a future medical school program, partnerships and community involvement, the UC Merced campus is continually evolving, requiring talented, knowledgeable and dynamic educators, researchers, management and staff.

The Visitor Center Coordinator uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and campus policies and procedures. The incumbent plans, develops and implements strategies for specific programs, events, policies, constituency groups, etc. Assignments typically include a wide range of external relations issues and constituencies. The coordinator will coordinate the Admissions Tour program; provide pre-admissions advising and outreach services; publications management; represent the Office of Admissions on various campus committees; develop and foster collaborative efforts with other campus units; manage sponsored events and related student staff scheduling; coordinate designated campus-based outreach and yield events; oversee staff and administer unit budget and general overall management of the UC Merced Visitors Center.

Qualifications:   • Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

• Thorough knowledge of basic concepts, principles, and procedures of building and maintaining effective relations with internal and external constituencies.

• Thorough knowledge of the campus, its mission, goals, objectives, programs, achievements, infrastructure and issues of concern.

• Thorough written, verbal and interpersonal communications, tact and political acumen to effectively represent the campus.

• Thorough research, analytical and critical thinking skills, including sound judgment and decision-making skills and skill to correctly identifying real and potential problems, advising management as required, and proposing effective strategic resolutions.

• Skill in project management, including event planning and meeting deadlines.
