Description:  

The University of California, Merced is the tenth campus of the UC system and the first American research university built in the 21st century.

The Sierra Nevada Research Institute Student Assistant will provide general office assistance to the Institute’s research administrators responsible for managing federal, state, and gift accounts. The incumbent will mainly assist with: 1) data entry into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets; 2) make suggestions on how to streamline a process or task that is manual; 3) general ledger reconciliation.

Standard work week is 10-18 hours, between the hours of 8am – 5pm. Hours may vary slightly according to workload.

 
Qualifications:   o Advanced Excel competency.
o Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and strong general computer skills.
o Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
o Excellent writing skills (sentence structure, grammar, varied vocabulary, spelling, style, consistency, and attention to detail).
o Ability to maintain confidentiality in all projects.
o Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
o Enthusiastic team player, but also capable of working independently.
