Description:  

The University of California, Merced is the tenth campus of the UC system and the first American research university built in the 21st century.

• General office support; including, but not limited to: Updating the Guardian Scholars calendar and social media sites, phone calls, emails, creating surveys, copying, filing, researching, event planning and coordination, flier creation, and data entry.
• Provide student guidance for campus and community resources; refer students to Program Coordinator as needed.
• Perform telephone and email outreach to current, former, and potential foster youth/Guardian Scholars.
• Attend staff trainings and Coordinator meetings as needed.
• Attend monthly Tri-College meeting and transcribe notes.
• Other duties as assigned.

 
Qualifications:   • Junior standing or higher and good academic standing at the time of hiring (Cumulative 2.75 GPA).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of university admissions processes and requirements as well as on-campus academic and administrative departments, student clubs, and extra-curricular activities.
• Awareness and sensitivity to the needs of foster youth students and underrepresented students in general.
• Moderate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook.
• Basic knowledge of web-based applications such as Box, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram, YouTube, Flickr, Tumblr, E-vite, Google Calendar, and Doodle.
• Maintain confidentiality in compliance with FERPA regulations.
• Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
• Prioritize and manage multiple projects.
• Serve as a peer role model with professional demeanor in compliance with UC Merced student conduct policies.
• Ability to learn new skills, adapt to changing demands on the job, think creatively, and carry conceptual ideas through to implementation.
• Other duties as assigned.
