Description:  

The University of California, Merced is the tenth campus of the UC system and the first American research university built in the 21st century.

Fiat Lux Scholars Student Coordinator responsibilities include:
• Use knowledge and experience to develop procedures for tracking program and student requirements
• Ability to use iCatCard Web Services
• Serve as a liaison between student staff and professional staff members
• Provide general supervision and guidance to Lead Scholars, Academic Scholars, Community Scholars and other student staff members
• Coordinate program calendars for programing events and study sessions
• Exercises independent judgment to make appropriate referrals and recommendations when working with students
• Appropriately uses electronic communications with students including e-mail, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and etc.
• Maintain on-line community and announcements for the Fiat Lux Scholars Program
• Communicates with program staff and students to ensure program requirements are met
• Coordinates events and ensures proper documentation is submitted to the Program Assistant
• Compile data from program and course evaluations
• Provide general office support to staff including but not limited to organization of documents and program supplies
• Ability to work with a diverse group of students and staff in a fast paced environment.
• Communicate appropriately with different audiences including staff, students, and parents
• Ability to perform the tasks of the Lead Scholars and Academic Scholars, as needed
• Maintain good conduct on and off of the UC Merced campus
• Other duties as assigned

 
Qualifications:   • Candidates possessing first-hand experience with the Fiat Lux Scholars Program is preferred, but not required
• Junior or third-year standing, Senior or fourth year Standing
• Cumulative and/or Semester GPA of at least 2.75
• Good student conduct standing with the University
• Ability to work evenings and weekends
• Knowledge and understanding of the needs of diverse students including first-generation students
• Ability to work independently and exercise independent and sound judgment
• Ability to collaborate and work as member of a team
• Ability to maintain confidentiality with documentations
• Effective interpersonal communication skills, including active listening skills
• Ability to use office equipment such as a laptop computer, printer/scanner/copier, projector and fax
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook, Word, and Power Point
• Ability to use Mac/PC operating systems
• Must be available to attend Required Training: August 14th-18th, 2017 from 8:00am to 5:00pm
• Must be available to attend two weekly meetings during the 2017-2018 academic year (TBD)
