Description:  

UC Merced Recreation and Athletics Department provides recreation and athletic opportunities for our students to lead healthy, engaging lifestyles that enhance student success, promote individual wellbeing, and foster a commitment to lead and serve the community. UC Merced Recreation & Athletics is a member of the Division of Student Affairs. Recreation & Athletics provides a broad range of programs for students, faculty and staff in intramural sports, outdoor adventures, fitness/wellness, sport clubs and intercollegiate athletics.

he primary function of the Student Athlete Learning Assistants (SALA's) is to aid in the success of student athletes by providing guidance, tutorial assistance. Specific Duties/Responsibility include, but not limited to:
• Explain, model and offer academic assistance related to particular subjects and/or assignments
• Offer suggestions for more effective studying or preparing assignments for a course
• Communicate with Athletics personnel regarding issues, concerns and/or suggestions
• Uphold a high level of integrity, honesty and confidentiality

 
Qualifications:   Proven success in their current academic status.
Strong communication skills
Ability to work in one-on-one and/or small group settings.
Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment with diverse populations.
Must maintain a 3.00 cumulative GPA
