Description:   The University of California, Merced is a dynamic new university campus in Merced, California, which opened in September 2005 as the tenth campus of the University of California and the first American research university in the 21st century. In keeping with the mission of the University to provide teaching, research and public service of the highest quality, UC Merced offers research-centered and student-oriented educational opportunities at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels through three academic schools: Engineering, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences/Humanities/Arts.

The Cognitive and Information Sciences faculty unit in the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts at the University of California, Merced invites applications from exceptional scholars and teachers for an open-rank tenure-track faculty position in Cognitive Science and Technology.

Qualifications:   All areas of Cognitive Science will be considered, but special attention will be given to applicants whose work has an applied or technology component, including but not limited to human-computer or human-robot interaction, virtual environments, speech recognition, computational linguistics, and information science, and which complements the group's existing strengths in language, embodiment, computational modeling, and dynamical systems, The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, contribute to program building efforts, and to establish and maintain a well-funded, world-class research program.
 
Salary:   Negotiable, based on the University of California Pay Schedule
