Description:   The University of California, Merced is a dynamic new university campus in Merced, California, which opened in September 2005 as the tenth campus of the University of California and the first American research university in the 21st century. In keeping with the mission of the University to provide teaching, research and public service of the highest quality, UC Merced offers research-centered and student-oriented educational opportunities at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels through three academic schools: Engineering, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences/Humanities/Arts.

The School of Engineering anticipates hiring Teaching Assistants for the 2011-2012 academic year for lower and upper division Material Science and Engineering courses. Duties include attendance at all course lectures or as required by the Instructor; attendance to all TA meetings; proctoring of all exams including midterms and final exams as scheduled by the Registrar; grading of homework and/or papers as assigned by the supervising Instructor; TA is not permitted to grade midterm or final exams; scheduling at least two fixed office hours per week open to all students in the course.

Qualifications:   Bachelor’s degree in the subject area of related field.

Must be an enrolled UC Merced graduate student.
Salary:   Based on an annual full-time salary of $33,939.
