UC Merced is also building the Downtown Campus Center, a $33 million, three-story administrative building in the heart of Merced.

Under direct supervision, the Computer Resc Spec provides a wide range of quality technical and consultative services to all campus users. Support includes, but is not limited to, computer hardware, software, network, and classroom technologies. Being part of a larger service team, this position is also responsible for providing services via taking telephone calls and in-person requests, as well as utilization of ServiceNow tool for managing service requests. Ancillary duties include maintaining compliance with software licensing, hardware and software inventory control, and project participation. Additionally, this position will be requested to document solutions to common support questions and provide backup support to other service analysts.

Qualifications:   CRS I Qualifications:
• AA plus 1 year of experience. AA may be substituted with equivalent years of experience.
• Industry certification is preferred. (i.e. Apple Certified Mac Technician (ACMT), or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), etc.)

CRS II Qualifications:
• AA plus 2 years of experience. AA may be substituted with equivalent years of experience.
• Industry certification is preferred. (i.e. Apple Certified Mac Technician (ACMT), or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), etc.)

• Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Ability to understand user needs and articulate solutions.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively via telephone, in-person, or chat tools with faculty, staff, and students.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills to diagnose a problem.
• Experience with WIN and OSX operating systems.
• Thorough knowledge of software applications, such as Microsoft Office and web browsers.
• Knowledge of anti-virus software, firewall and other security applications.
• Experience installing software and web browser plug-ins.
• Good understanding of networks and ability to troubleshoot for resolution.
• Aptitude to learn computer-based applications and information.
• Excellent organizational skills including the ability to handle multiple tasks and job functions.
• Demonstrated ability to explain computer concepts to a diverse audience with patience, tact, and diplomacy.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret verbal information and synthesize it into a clear, concise, written statement.
• Progressive experience in technical computer upgrades and PC maintenance.
