Description:

UC Merced is also building the Downtown Campus Center, a $33 million, three-story administrative building in the heart of Merced.

Under general supervision works on operational and/or procedural assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving procedural issues. Makes recommendations to improve processes and/or procedures.

The Administrative Assistant must be able to provide assistance in a variety of areas such as managing complex calendars, preparation of materials for meetings, data entry, front line phone contact and basic office maintenance. Essential duties include oral and written communication, including use of proper grammar, punctuation, spelling and standard business formats using Microsoft Office Suite applications.

This position may also be project based such as large mailings or end of fiscal year processing. This is a limited appointment and was created to assist various departments when additional clerical and administrative support for their unit is needed.

Review of applications will occur as openings are available. This is a temporary employment pool for Administrative Assistant II. This position is reopened every six months so please re-apply if you remain interested in the position. This position will close on December 31, 2017.

 
Qualifications:   • High school diploma or equivalent experience.

• Working knowledge in administrative procedures and processes including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.

• Requires verbal and written communication skills, active listening, critical thinking, multi-task and time management skills.

• Extensive business office, administrative, and word processing skills as well as fast and accurate data entry skills.

• Confidentiality a must.

• Experience and knowledge of MS package including: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint required.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills essential; including: excellent spelling, grammar, proofreading, and punctuation.

• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well independently and with others a must.

• Fingerprinting may be required.
