The University of California, Merced is the tenth campus of the UC system and the first American research university built in the 21st century.

Under the Bright Success Center, the Fiat Lux Scholars Program serves a select cohort of underrepresented students at UC Merced. The Fiat Lux Study Session Monitor responsibilities include:
• Organizing and Facilitate Fiat Lux Study Sessions
• Accurately report and maintain student’s study session time /attendance
• Facilitate small study groups to specific courses
• Provide homework and academic support
• Enforce Study Session Policies
• Serve as a liaison between Fiat Lux Scholars and the Program Staff
• Advocate for the interests of Fiat Lux Scholars
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:   • Junior or third-year standing by the end of Fall 2014 semester
• Grade Point Average of at least 3.0 cumulative
• Good judicial and semester academic standing
• Demonstrate academic and personal success
• Ability and desire to work with a diverse student population
• Knowledge and understanding of the needs of diverse students including first-generation and low-income students
• Ability to work independently and exercise independent and sound judgment
• Ability to collaborate and work as member of a team
• Effective interpersonal communication skills, including active listening skills
• Preference will be given to those available for Spring Training (January 13-16, 2015)
• Must be available to attend weekly meetings and trainings during the Spring 2015 semester
• Must be able to multi-task and have the ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Must perform all duties as assigned
