The Calvin E. Bright Success Center is searching for Orientation Logistics Leaders to be part of the New Student Orientation Team for summer 2015. The position of Orientation Logistics Leader is one that focuses on managing the logistics and office projects for the Orientation program. These student leaders are trained to familiarize themselves with our entire Orientation program in order to answer phone calls and respond to e-mails. These students also help prepare and execute office projects leading up to our summer Orientations. Orientation Logistics Leaders will also play a big role on Orientation day in helping to set up, check-in, and keep track of all records. In helping the New Student Orientation Team for summer 2015 these students will develop and enhance their office management skills and become a representative of the University through their leadership role.

The Orientation Logistics Leader is an integral part of the Orientation team responsible for executing daily office tasks and projects as we prepare for Summer Orientation. Acts as a representative of UC Merced to new students, parents, and guests. Assists with Orientation logistics such as check-in and the registration process. Assists in preparation of Orientation activities and materials. Assists the Orientation Staff as needed. The Orientation Logistics Leader position begins in April with staff development and a staff retreat and continue through June, July and August with increased hours. Possible additional hours fall and spring semesters for new student transition programming.


*Strong customer service skills; ability to respond effectively and in a business-like manner to questions or requests from campus colleagues and Orientation attendees.
*Must be well-organized, pay close attention to detail and perform repetitive, detail-oriented tasks
*Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal
*Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast pace environment
*Ablility to follow detailed instructions
*Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing needs of the team and the Orientation program
*Demonstrate initiative, self-motivation, timeliness, and professionalism
*Maintain confidentiality with sensitive information

Terms of Employment:
-Applicants must be in good academic and disciplinary standing.
-Orientation Logistics Leaders must be available for staff development sessions starting in April continuing with event preparation and orientation sessions May 26th through August 7th.
-Must be available from early morning to early evening on the following dates: July 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, 30 and August 4, and 6. Exceptions will not be made, except in the case of unplanned, unforeseeable, unavoidable hardship.
-Must provide own housing.
