**Dining Services positions remain posted throughout most of the year. Interviews will be conducted periodically and the majority of our hiring will occur between April-July for positions that begin in August. Dining Services is a part of Campus Auxiliaries within Student Affairs. We are currently recruiting students to work with our team. We are looking for highly motivated students who are punctual, responsible, and eager to learn. Through employment with dining, you will gain complimentary skills that are necessary for any future career endeavors.

The Lantern Cafe is located at the heart of campus in our Kolligian Library on the ground floor. Open to Students, Faculty, Staff and Guests alike, the Cafe offers a variety of gourmet coffees and light but hearty food options daily.

Job Responsibilities include:
• Complete understanding of menu offerings and ability to serve them in a friendly, quick and efficient manner
• Stock Café with menu items as necessary, with direction from Lantern Lead and student supervisors
• Work as cashier with proficiency and accuracy for all forms of payment and University funds
• Provide excellent customer service to all customers
• Maintain proper food safety standards at all times
• Keep Cafe and work area cleaned and sanitized appropriately as to Food Safety Standards
• Complete understanding of setup and breakdown procedures at the Café
• Transport of items from location in golf cart may be required if you have a Valid Driver's License

Qualifications:   • All dining staff must be friendly, professional, driven and customer service savvy (a good communicator!).
• 1 year of food service experience is preferred, however it is not mandatory.
• Student Employees will be trained in all aspects of a Food Facility including Food Safety practices, safe work behaviors, etc.
• A valid Driver's License is required to drive any Dining vehicle but is not a requirement for employment
• Food Handler Certificate is preferred
Must commit to a minimum of 12 hours/week or equivalent of 3 shifts up to a maximum of 18 hours.
Must be willing to provide management with updated availabilities per Dining’s scheduling software.
Students with a valid CA driver’s license may be required to operate a Dining Services vehicle on occasion.
Student s must have a valid CA driver’s license to operate Dining Services vehicles. (Truck, Van, Carts)
Employees will be required to be Food Handler Certified.

Special Circumstances: A background check may be required upon employment.
