Description:  

UC Merced Recreation and Athletics Department provides recreation and athletic opportunities for our students to lead healthy, engaging lifestyles that enhance student success, promote individual wellbeing, and foster a commitment to lead and serve the community. UC Merced Recreation & Athletics is a member of the Division of Student Affairs. Recreation & Athletics provides a broad range of programs for students, faculty and staff in intramural sports, outdoor adventures, fitness/wellness, sport clubs and intercollegiate athletics.

The OEP Trip Assistant works closely with the Associate Director-Recreation, OEP Student Coordinator as well as OEP Trip Supervisors to support the various program needs to operate a successful Outdoor Experience Trip Program, Outdoor Equipment Rental Program and Open Wrench Bike Program. The trip assistant is responsible for assisting in inventory, distribution, inspection & maintenance of outdoor gear, outdoor equipment preparation for trips and outdoor gear rental. The trip assistant will also be scheduled to cover Outdoor Center office hours. Additionally, the trip assistant will assist other program staff in trip planning, implementing trip programming, and assist in leading trips. rip Supervisor assigned to each trip. Additional assignments may include assisting with Bike Shop/Open Wrench.

 
Qualifications:   -Strong customer service skills.
-Experience with various computer applications.
-Experience with the use and care of outdoor camping equipment.
-Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
-Prior experience with outdoor adventure trips.
-Valid California drivers’ license with an acceptable driving record.
-Current American Red Cross/AHA First Aid, CPR and AED certifications required (may be obtained after hiring).
-Verification of Leave No Trace (LNT) training required (may be obtained after hiring).
-Advanced experience/certification in technical bicycle service and maintenance and tool use.
