The University of California, Merced is the tenth campus of the UC system and the first American research university built in the 21st century.

The student assistant will work with the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion team and Executives within the Office of the Chancellor. Primary responsibilities will include greeting visitors in person and over the phone, filing, electronic and paper file creation and maintenance, photocopy/scanning, routing for signature, web research, file management and maintenance, label creation, and general office duties. Special projects may include developing promotion materials, social media post and contribution to unit goals. Hours may vary depending on workload.

• Must commit to working at least a minimum of 10 hours/week during the school year.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills required.
• Must be able to keep confidential information to uphold the mission of the department.
• Must be able to have attention to detail when completing tasks as assigned and meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills; must be able to communicate with and listen to fellow students, staff, and faculty.
• Strong customer service skills; must have a high degree of independence and integrity.
• Must have a friendly and compassionate disposition including the ability to collaborate with other staff members.
• Highly organized and able to multi-task and manage concurrent deadlines.
•Familiarity with Campus Systems (i.e. Room reservations etc) and common software (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite).
