The University of California, Merced is the tenth campus of the UC system and the first American research university built in the 21st century.

The Graphic Design Assistant position provides an undergraduate student with hands-on experience creating and designing content for Enrollment Management websites and social networking, articles, blog posts, video and print media.

General responsibilities include:
• Designing original artwork to be used in but not limited to emails, publications, websites, social media, etc.
• Creating marketing material for other campus departments which includes, fliers, posters, signage and event logos.
• Interacting with multiple campus offices and creative skills to develop new content and ideas.
• Provide ideas and constructive feedback on publications, emails, videos, photography, social media and marketing campaigns.
• Develop content to assist with social networking campaigns and other special projects as needed.

Qualifications:   A minimum 2.7 G.P.A.
• Experience working on graphic design and content layout (paid or voluntary).
• Working knowledge of both Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Knowledge of InDesign(preferred)
• Knowledge of best practices for designing images and content for social media platforms.
• Comfortable with working on multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong communication and listening skills
• Comfortable accepting feedback and constructive criticism.
• Ability to adjust work to meet client’s needs.
• Must be able to work independently and complete assignments as assigned and meet deadlines
• Must be able to work as a member of a team.
• Must have a flexible schedule to cover scheduled evenings and weekend assignments. Attendance at the following UC Merced events is mandatory: Bobcat Day, Commencement, Homecoming, Cowchella.
• Reliability and punctuality with regard to scheduled hours is critical
• Strong time management, organizational skills and attention to detail
• Comfortable working with students, faculty, and staff
• Knowledge of social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Tumblr, WordPress and Twitter
• Comfortable working with Apple
