Description:  

Dining Services is a part of Campus Auxiliaries within the Division of Finance. We are currently recruiting students to work with our team. We are looking for highly motivated students who are punctual, responsible, and eager to learn. Leadership positions such as this will will also allow the employee to gain necessary skills such as strong communication, conflict management, problem solving, and team work which will be helpful for future career endeavors.

***Dining Services hires students throughout the year to fill positions. Due to this, our positions remain posted throughout the year so that we can pro-actively reach out to eager students and fill positions as they are needed. Numbers of open positions reflect estimated need for the year for positions to fill and may not accurately reflect the hiring needs at the moment.

Job Responsibilities include:
• Complete Understanding of Dining Services Policies with the ability to communicate policies to fellow employees and management team.
• Participate in training of all Dining Center Student Food Service Workers.
• Provide Excellent Customer Service to all customers and ensure all staff are doing the same.
• Be a leader and an example to all staff and fellow student employees.
• Complete understanding of all Dining stations and the ability to work each concept from start to finish.
• Student Supervisor will aid Management with HACCP program and all food policy standards.
• Student Supervisor will participate in food prep and have a complete understanding of production for each food concept.
• Ability to supervise up to 20 student employees at one time with assistance from Management.
• Flexible schedule with ability to cover shifts for co-workers when needed by Management sometimes with only 24 hour notice.
• Must be able to take direction and at times be able to give direction.
• Must be able to anticipate kitchen needs and communicate what those needs are to Management.
• Dining Services Student Supervisors will be required to have fingerprints on file before position begins.
• Training of all Dining Center student staff in Dining Services procedures and policies.
• Comprehensive knowledge of cash procedures and policies of the University and Dining Services with the ability to supervise student cashiers and act as a secondary to management in supervising career cashiers.
• Communicate with management team the performance of student employees for the purpose of evaluation.
• Attend monthly meeting with management team to build leadership skills and communication.
• Facilitate the proper opening and closing of the Dining Center upon shift assignment.
• Participate in special events as needed by Dining Services management team.
• Other duties as assigned.

 
Qualifications:   *Dining Center Supervisor must have a valid Driver's License and at least 1 year of driving experience.*

• All dining staff must be friendly, professional, driven and customer service savvy (a good communicator!).
• 1 year of food service experience is preferred, however it is not mandatory.
• Student Employees will be trained in all aspects of a Food Facility including Food Safety practices, safe work behaviors, etc.
• Food Handler Certification is preferred.

Must commit to a minimum of 12 hours/week or equivalent of 3 shifts up to a maximum of 18 hours.
Must be willing to provide management with updated availabilities per Dining’s scheduling software.
Students with a valid CA driver’s license may be required to operate a Dining Services vehicle on occasion.
Student s must have a valid CA driver’s license to operate Dining Services vehicles. (Truck, Van, Carts)
Employees will be required to pass a general food safety quiz.

Special Circumstances: A background check may be required upon employment.
