Description:  

The University of California, Merced is the tenth campus of the UC system and the first American research university built in the 21st century.

The Web Design Assistant position provides an undergraduate student with hands-on experience in creating and designing content for Student Affairs Vice Chancellor's websites and social networking.
General responsibilities include:
• Assisting with website design - migrations, maintenance, content, and updates as needed.
• Requires strong writing and editing skills, comfort with interacting with multiple campus offices and creative skills to develop new content and ideas.
• Technical familiarity with social media, web design (specifically HTML and CSS) and site maintenance is desired.
• Duties may include conducting interviews, writing articles or posts, researching topics related to the department site, taking photographs, and searching the Internet for relevant video clips.
• Complete social networking campaigns indicated and other special projects as needed.

 
Qualifications:   • A minimum 2.7 G.P.A.
• Knowledge of web design: HTML, CSS
• Knowledge of Drupal 6 & 7 desired but not required
• Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Indesign desired
• Comfortable with working on multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong communication and listening skills
• Must be able to work independently and complete assignments as assigned and meet deadlines
• Comfortable working with students, faculty, and staff
• Knowledge of social media platforms including LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter
